Families are complex systems. The relationships between parents, children, siblings, and extended family members shape who we are in ways we don't always see, and when those relationships are strained, the effects ripple through every part of our lives.
Maybe you're a parent who feels like you can't reach your teenager. Maybe your family has gone through a major transition, a move, a divorce, a loss, a new blended family structure, and everyone is struggling to adjust. Maybe the same patterns of miscommunication and conflict keep playing out at the dinner table, and you're exhausted from it.
Family therapy at You Are More creates a space where every family member feels heard. Annie works with the whole family system, not just one person, to improve communication, navigate conflict, and rebuild trust. Drawing from her training in Narrative Therapy, she helps families externalize the problematic stories that have taken hold ("we're a broken family," "nothing ever changes") and begin writing a new chapter together.
Annie's background includes working as a school-based therapist, where she witnessed firsthand the dynamics between parents, teachers, and children. She understands how to connect with young people and help them process emotions and communicate effectively with the adults in their lives. She collaborates with parents to create a home environment where everyone feels safe to express themselves and be themselves.
Families navigating conflict between parents and children, blended family transitions, grief and loss, communication breakdowns, behavioral concerns in children or teens, co-parenting challenges, or any family that wants to function and connect in healthier ways.
