My name is Anna, I'm 22 and I was born and raised in Germany. In August 2014, I decided to change my life and start all over again. I came to Canada to work as an Au Pair. Because I fell in love with this country I decided to stay and find a place to live and go to school. Now I'm enrolled at George Brown College, work at Jack Astors and found wonderful new friends - which I was really in need of.
Two years ago my beloved Daddy passed away after fighting for two years for his life. I grew up into an awesome family where there was ups and downs but we always had our backs.
My Dad was a fighter, not just because he fought for his life, because he fought for his family and friends! He was warm, kind and - cynical.
I loved him to bits.
After he passed away I went through the toughest phase in my life and I never thought I would experience this. I still think I'm running away from all of this and don't wanna face my problems. But the last two years made me stronger, mature and made me realize what's important in life.
I am more.
I lost friends, because of the way I am and I got new friends, because of the way I am.
I denied going to get the help I needed because I thought people would think I'm crazy if I'd go to the doctors.
Today I know that anyone who struggles in life NEEDS someone to talk to. You cannot go through life on your own without talking to your family, best friends or even strangers.
I want to raise awareness for mental health problems and tell that everyone struggles in life and it's not a shame to talk about it.
No one has to be alone with their problems.
